San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum was named the 2008 National League Cy Young winner. Lincecum graduated from Liberty High School in Renton and played college ball at the University of Washington.

Authorities say the 25-year-old was heading northbound on I-5 when a state trooper stopped him for going 14 mph over the speed limit.

The trooper smelled pot and Lincecum immediately handed over 3.3 grams of marijuana.

He was cited for speeding and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, but since he was not impaired, authorities released him.

Lincecum won the National League Cy Young Award in 2008. It is believed he was heading home to Bellevue, Washington at the time of the incident.
